Located in the mountainous southern region of Estado Bolivar, Uraima Falls effectively separates the headwaters of the Rio Paragua from the main body of the river. During the region's dry season, payara pursue schools of baitfish up the river and to the Falls. Bait and predators alike pile up below the Falls in the spectacular rocky waters. Excellent daily catch averages (typically 10 - 30 big fish per day) and more trophy payara (up to 40 pounds) than anywhere else in the world.

Sample Itinerary - Uraima Falls Payara Trip
4 Days of Fishing - Feb 18th to Feb 25, 2011

DAY 1 - Feb. 18th: Arrive in Venezuela via international flight. Transfer to Eurobuilding Express Hotel, a 5 minute drive from the airport (at La Guaira City, not Caracas). Transfer service is provided. Overnight at hotel.

DAY 2 - Feb. 19th: Transfer to domestic terminal (very early in the morning) for flight to Puerto Ordaz, transfer service provided. Then drive to La Paragua town (3 hours). Board fishing boats and transfer to Uraima Falls (3 hours by the river). Reception at Uraima Falls.

DAY 3 to 6 - Feb. 20, 21, 22, 23: Four (4) days of payara fishing.

DAY 7 - Feb. 24th: Very early in the morning, boat transfer from Uraima Falls to La Paragua town (3 hours by the river), Then ground transfer from La Paragua to Puerto Ordaz (3 hour drive). Board domestic flight to La Guaira city (45 minute flight). Transfer to Eurobuilding Express Hotel at La Guaira City. Overnight at hotel.

DAY 8 - Feb. 25th: Transfer to domestic terminal (very early in the morning) to take international flight home. Transfer service is provided.
